The Master’s House is home to the John Masefield archive.
The Poet Laureate John Masefield (1878 – 1967) was born and raised in Ledbury. Although he travelled widely and became internationally famous, he never lost touch with members of his family who lived in the town.
The John Masefield Society was founded in Ledbury in 1992 to stimulate the appreciation of and interest in his life and works. It boasts one of the finest Masefield collections in the world, including a magnificent library and archive. This superb collection is now held at the Master’s House and is available for scholars to access.
